Award-Winning User Experience Propels Company Past the 4M Customer Mark mSpot's Explosive Growth Fueled by Innovative Applications, New Content Partners and Additional Carriers
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – September 08, 2008 – mSpot, Inc. a leader in innovative mobile music and entertainment, announced that it has completed more than 500 ports to mobile phones across major carriers. The announcement comes on the heels of the company's recent news that it had surpassed four million subscribers. The Silicon Valley-based company - which gives consumers access to music, custom ringtones, live radio and video on their phones - will celebrate its success by hosting performances by Mosley Music Group/Zone4/Interscope artist Keri Hilson and Warner Bros. artist Francesca Battistelli. The September 10 event coincides with the CTIA Conference.
"With demand higher than ever, mSpot is dedicated to delivering its award-winning applications to the masses," said mSpot CEO Daren Tsui. "As developers are discovering, WAP does not meet the needs of mobile users hungry to consume multimedia content such as music and videos. Our continued dramatic growth is in large part due to our ability to bring the highest quality user experience to our customers regardless of handset, platform or carrier."
In its effort to meet the rising demand for mobile music and entertainment applications, mSpot recently completed over 500 ports to mobile phones supported across carriers including Alltel, AT&T;, Sprint, Boost, U.S. Cellular, Bell Mobility and TELUS. In addition, mSpot is meeting increased demand in the burgeoning smartphone market by supporting RIM Blackberry and Palm devices for mSpot products Make-UR-Tones, Remix, mSpot Radio, Pay-Per-View movies and mSpot Movies. mSpot will soon be supporting Windows Mobile as well.
The mobile music and entertainment industry is flourishing despite a slowed economy. According to market research firm NPD Group's latest report, sales of music-enabled devices in Q2 2008 are up: 65% of all phones purchased were music-enabled, compared to 45% in the previous year, and smartphone sales accounted for 19% of all mobile phone sales - up 9% from last year. mSpot has leveraged this demand to increase its subscriber base to over four million users, a remarkable 260% increase since summer 2007.
mSpot powers 13 live services across eight North American carriers, delivering top-quality content from the biggest and most recognized brands including ABC, ClearChannel, Fox Sports, NPR, Paramount Pictures, Lions Gate Films and Disney, plus all major music labels such as Universal and Warner Brothers and many indie music labels.
